Mike Morhaime Confirms World of Warcraft Movie Still Planned

Early reviews of Max Payne indicate it probably won't be an oscar-winning game-to-film adaptation. We're not surprised, but the consistency leaves us a little sad. Maybe the adaptation of a game with 10 million subscribers can break the mold.

Speaking to Moviehole (via First Showing), Blizzard president Mike Morhaime said "There are still plans for a World of Warcraft movie.... The script is being written, but if they say anything more than that they will be shot." he added.

At last year's BlizzCon, bigwigs from Legendary Pictures and Blizzard
discussed details on the movie, including their goals, the budget, etc. During that time, they also mentioned the script was currently being written.

Apparently one year later that's still the case. Either they're working hard to make sure it's the best script it can possibly be, or the project's been put on the back burner.

I'm hoping it's heavily CGI, and not a lot of Star Trekish guys in makeup. While they can do amazing things with makeup and costumes now, a lot of the species just need to be CGI (tauren, undead, etc).
